Dariush Ashtiani

Coming from an engineering background with a focus on experimental heat transfer and thermal effects, I started a PhD on Cryo-EM grid preparation methods. In 2016, I joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, as a PhD candidate to focus on microfabrication methods for developing a SAW atomizer. My work continued by charaterizing this micro-sprayer for protein deposition onto EM grids and also the physical aspects of spray deposition onto the grid. I finished my PhD at the end of 2020 and did a short successful postdoc job in Monash before joining Cryosol World in 2021 as a senior development engineer. At Cryosol, I worked together with the application, software, and service teams on the issues of the Vitrojet machine and the understanding of the physical phenomena in it. Now, in 2024, I joined AJ lab in Delft with the hope that I can deliver impact in time-resolved methods and turn my cryo-EM ideas into real working products.
